This policy describes how the British Horseracing Authority (also referred to as “the BHA”, “we” or “us”) will handle your data through your use of this website ( (also referred to as “the site”).  This notice also describes your data protection rights, including your right to object to some of the processing which the BHA carries out, and how to exercise such rights.

What information do we collect?

You may give us information by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you report a problem with our site. The information you give us may include your name, address, e-mail address and phone number.

With regard to each of your visits to our site we may automatically collect the following information:

As required by the BHA to conduct our business and pursue our legitimate interests, in particular:

Where you give us consent:

Withdrawing consent

Wherever we rely on your consent, you will always be able to withdraw that consent, although we may have other legal grounds for processing your data for other purposes, such as those set out above.

Who will we share your information with and why

We do not share the data collected through your use of the site with any third parties.

Our site may, from time to time, contain links to and from the websites of our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.

What rights do I have?

You have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal data; to correct, delete or restrict (stop any active) processing of your personal data; and to obtain the personal data you provide to us for a contract or with your consent in a structured, machine readable format, and to ask us to share (port) this data to another controller

In addition, you can object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances (in particular, where we don’t have to process the data to meet a contractual or other legal requirement).

These rights may be limited, for example if fulfilling your request would reveal personal data about another person, or if you ask us to delete information which we are required by law to keep or have compelling legitimate interests in keeping.

To exercise any of these rights, you can get in touch with us – or our data protection officer – using the details set out below. If you have unresolved concerns, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.

How do I get in touch with you, or your data protection officer?

We hope that we can satisfy queries you may have about the way we process your data. If you have any concerns about how we process your data, you can get in touch at or by writing to Data Protection Officer, British Horseracing Authority, Holborn Gate, 26 Southampton Buildings, London, WC2A 1AN.

How long will you retain my data?

Where we process your personal data on the basis of your consent, we do this for as long as your consent is active. Where such data relates to the placement of cookies, please refer to the Cookies Policy.
